A poll from the Pretrial Justice Institute and the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio shows that Ohioans think there should be fewer arrests for low-level offenses, more support services in the community, and a system focused on public safety—not on ability to pay money bond.
Ohio Voters Want a Common Sense Approach to Pretrial: A report on the results and what this means for Ohio. Voters want change, specifically voters want to reduce arrests, restrict detention, replace money bail, and raise equity. While Ohio is on its way more work needs to be done.
